I have been following The GBP for almost two years and am thrilled by the results. Every workout is designed to build on the one before or to prepare you for something that is coming up down the line (even if you don’t know it). Because there are different workouts available each day, I can choose to match my energy level or my available equipment to my WOD. I find it so interesting that by sticking with the program day after day, there was rarely a workout that felt totally overwhelming. My improvements were so gradual I didn’t really realize I was getting stronger, more aerobically fit and leaner. The other interesting thing about this program is that my gains transfer from one activity to another (ring rows to pull-ups, push presses and dB snatches to strict HSPUs, and rope climbs!) even when I don’t have equipment to practice specific movements. Each workout is accompanied by a short video with movement standards and strategies and when I don’t understand something, Joe is a quick text away and does his best to respond quickly. Every Sunday we get a weekly check in email that takes 5-10 minutes to complete. I find this really helps me keep my week in perspective and gives me a place to complain about or comment on my week of nutrition, sleep, injuries and overall mental health. I love that I get responses to my comments and nothing is devalued and all suggestions are helpful. Another aspect I enjoy is the ability to send a short video of some move I’m having trouble with and Joe can immediately tell what I’m doing wrong and give me pointers for improvement. Competing in the CrossFit Games was an amazing experience but I never expected that this day by day, little by little program was giving me the skills and strength I needed to end up in 1st place in the 65+ women’s category! Thanks Joe and The Get Better Project.
