There are so many companies out there selling what they claim to be the “best men’s workout clothes”, so we are going to get right down to it, and tell you why what we think is the actual best men’s workout clothes, and why.
However, if you love something that we haven’t listed, let us know, maybe we haven’t test it yet.
Men’s Workout Shoes
Nike Metcon 7 – $130
The Nike Metcon 7 is the most comfortable, best fitting, best performing workout shoe that I’ve ever used! They are just the right amount of cushion with tons of side to side support for lifting. That is assuming you have a foot that is shaped the same way mine is… :-).
NOTE – These shoes are NOT good for running! They are great for everything else.
Where to buy:
Nike.com $130-160 (custom)
Reebok Nano X1 – $130 (or less)
When I first tried the Nano X1’s I didn’t really like them, but I’m sure glad that I stuck with them. For about the first 5 workouts they felt a little sloppy, even though the sizing was right. After about 5 workouts they started to “wear in”, and now they are my favorite running workout shoes. This means workouts that have running plus other lifting or gymnastics movements. If you’re looking for a running only shoe… I’d highly recommend Altra shoes.
Where to buy:
Reebok.com $85-140 (prices vary regularly)
Amazon.com $80-140 (prices vary regularly)
Men’s Workout Shorts
Lululemon Pace Breaker (with or without liners) – $68
These shorts are great for many reasons. First of all, they fit great in a way that allows you to move without restriction when doing your favorite exercises.
You can get them with or without liners. Liners seem to be a very personal preference. I love the Lululemon short liners, and think they fit like my best underwear, so why need two things..
The Pace Breakers also come in different lengths, so you can fine tune your length preference. My favorite are the 9”. They live right above my knees when my legs are straight, and easily slide up my leg when I get into my squat.
Where to buy:
Lululemon.com – $68
Nike Flex Training Shorts – $35
Great, long lasting training shorts that have features of much higher priced training shorts. The best thing about these shorts is how the cut of them makes the shorts feel like they aren’t there when you start moving. It’s awesome!
Just note that you might have to try on a few sizes to find what fits you best. I’ve had to get different sizes in different seasons.
Where to buy:
Nike.com – $35
Men’s Workout Shirts
NoBull T – $38
If you are a muscular guy, these are the best fitting workout shirts that I’ve sweat in! They are made for guys with slim waists, broad shoulders/backs, and fit muscular arms just right.
The other cool thing about the NoBull T’s are they only cost $38, which is about the lowest price training material shirt that I’ve tested.
Where to buy:
NoBull.com – $38
Lululemon Metal Vent Tech Short Sleeve Shirt 2.0 – $78
This is also an amazingly comfortable men’s workout shirt that has better durability than any other workout shirt that I’ve had. I have a few of these Lululemon Metal Vent Tech T’s that are over 5 years old, and still look new.
NOTE – To get these shirts to look right on a muscular guy, I’ve had to get them a size down from my usual large. I’m 6’2”, 200 pounds, and wear a medium.
Where to buy:
Lululemon.com – $78
