Resistance bands are a great way to get a great workout! And resistance bands for at-home workouts are brilliant for saving space!
Here we will discuss what resistance bands are the best for your at-home workouts and a few types of training that will get you the best results.
The Best Resistance Bands
Rogue Monster Bands – $20+
These are looped resistance bands that are very durable, and rated the best because you can use them for large multi joint exercises (which get you the fastest results).
Some of the best exercises for the Rogue Monster Bands are:
- Squats – Bands around back of neck or held in front rack.
- Good mornings – Bands around back of neck.
- Deadlifts
- Banded pull throughs
- Push-ups – Bands around back to get extra resistance.
- Rows & pull-downs – Standing on bands or attached to fixed object.
- Tricep push downs and skull crushers
- Bicep curls
- And much more!
MUST HAVE addition to the Rogue Monster Bands is the Rogue Band Handle! This allows you to use heavier resistance for exercises like deadlifts, upright rows, curls, and more!
Rogue Tube Bands – $75
The tube bands are typically best for smaller exercises. In an ideal setup you will have both the Monster Bands AND Tube Bands.
Some of the best exercise for Rogue Tube Bands are:
- Chest press
- Rows and pull-downs
- Overhead press
- Tricep push downs and skull crushers
- Bicep curls
- Lateral raises
Amazon Resistance Bands – $25
You can pick up a complete set of resistance bands for your at-home workouts on Amazon for WAY less than at Rogue! BUT you get what you pay for. These bands will work, but will fall apart faster, and provide far less resistance.
You might be thinking that you don’t need the most resistance, but the truth is the exercises like squats and deadlifts will be the safest with the Rogue Monster Bands.
I’m not saying to not buy the Amazon bands. It might be great to start with these to see if you can even keep up with a fitness program. But you will want to upgrade once you have the habit locked an loaded.
The exercises that are best for the Amazon Resistance Bands are the same as the Rogue Tube Bands.
Best Workouts for Resistance Bands
You are able to find good ways of using bands from every type of workout or goal, with the exception of Olympic lifts. For other dynamic movements you might have to get creative. For example an explosive banded pull through in place of a kettlebell swing.
The easiest programs to follow are bodybuilding. Unlike you might see in the gym, the best way to do bodybuilding is with slow and controlled movements.
At the Get Better Project we offer two Levels of workouts that are designed for people that only have bands available.
